So...what's up with Dr. Cohen?

It is a hard decision to leave a business and move on. I have many great memories of building Cohen Soft Tissue into what it is, and many of the wonderful people who have trusted me with their healthcare. I am grateful for you, for the opportunity to live in Atascadero and serve this community. People will definitely be missed.

I have accepted a position at the Brady Back Institute outside of Boston, MA. We will be building a new clinic that focuses on low back and hip conditions. While it is hard to leave family and friends and this beautiful area, it gives me an opportunity to have a greater impact in the world. We have ambitious goals, which include making this type of treatment accessible to more people and helping it to become the standard of what non-surgical care can be. This is a very different challenge, and I welcome it.

A big concern for me was what would happen to all "my people." I looked around, hired a broker to find the right doctor to fit in at Cohen Soft Tissue and continue to deliver the care you have all come to expect.

I know Dr. Mike through a couple of different channels, and he is the perfect fit. He is thoughtful, considerate, kind, and curious. He is humble. These are big and important qualities to do this kind of work. He will continue to improve his diagnostic and treatment skills, I will communicate with him at least weekly. We will talk about you and your cases. We will make sure we don't leave things out. I am excited for Dr. Mike and this opportunity. He has treated me, my family, and Lisa and Pilar. He has made great improvements to both the tests and symptoms.

If you have not already, please reach out and say "hi." Its hard being the new guy. Allow him to prove himself to you.

If you have questions, I am more than willing to answer them. I do ask that we keep in office conversation about this to a minimum as we always have a lot of work to do!

At Cohen Soft Tissue and Chiropractic, we only utilize the most effective interventions and treatment. If it doesn’t produce a measurable, lasting change, we don’t use it. We value results, and we value your time. You will receive the treatment you need when you need it.

Manual Adhesion Release (MAR) is the premier form of soft-tissue treatment to remove adhesion. Adhesions in your muscles or ligaments act like glue, this treatment provides long term healing for the condition. MAR generates tension directly on the adhesion to reduce and eliminate it.

Instrument Adhesion Release (IAR) Is an instrument based form of manual treatment that is designed to remove adhesion without damaging the healthy surrounding tissue. This is unlike any other instrument treatment available, and used only in applications where it is most effective. We’ve tested most all the instruments out there, and nothing compares to IAR.

Chiropractic Manipulation

To the spine or extremities is performed in order to create stimulation the joints which can occasionally be helpful to restore normal motion.

Active Release Techniques

Was a game changer for the conservative management of soft tissue disorders. Because of his experience with ART Dr. Cohen worked with both the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and other elite athletes.

Corrective Exercises

As exercises are required to correct a weakness, they are prescribed. You are expected to do them. Sometimes they are not required.

We treat your problem in a way that is specific to you, because your pain is unique to you.

First, Schedule a Consult

We start with a consultation to make sure you are in the right place. During the consult you will meet one on one with Dr. Cohen and discuss the details of your problem. This is the first step at identifying the exact issue and problem that is causing your joint, muscle, or nerve pain. If you think you might be a good fit for our office, schedule your consult and find out.

Follow Up Visit

Follow up visits will last anywhere from 5-15 minutes and vary depending on what treatment is required for that visit. Your visit will be a combination of hands on treatment, exercise, recommendations, among other things. Our goal is to get you better as quickly as possible. This requires several things, but most importantly is a shared responsibility. I will do my part, I need you to do yours.

What to Wear

Please come in workout attire, and treatment is most effective when applied directly onto the skin. For shoulder problems, bring a tank top. For problems from the lower back or below, wear shorts that allow for movement. Be ready at the time of treatment. If you need to change, please arrive early to do so.
